My Sticky Post.... How We Got Here!

I never had any idea just how quickly situations could change until this year.  My husband had been transferred to the United States five years ago and we all expected it to be a good move financially. The job was a definite step up and it was our plan to move home at some point with enough money to buy our next house back in Canada free and clear. Hubby could retire and we would live happily ever after.

We did have one little sticky bit. Darling daughter was still living at home with us and the only way that she could legally come with us was to apply to a university which she did. During those university years, we received our Green Cards and sponsored her as well, expecting that hers would come through as quickly as ours did. That didn't happen, but we were hoping that because she was in a Science program and studying her little heart out to be an Ecological Geologist, she would be given her Green Card when she graduated.

There was a lot of talk of that happening, but sadly that hasn't happened either. She graduates in about a month’s time and without her green Card,  it will be time for her to go home!  The only thing that is left for us to do is to pack up and move home with her. I know that you are probably wondering why she simply doesn't pack up and go home without us, but the idea certainly doesn't appeal to me. We already have a son and a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter at home and it kills me that we aren't seeing the little munchkin grow up. I'm not going to lose another family member. We either all stay or we all go home.

Now that is where the problems begin. The Real Estate Market is very bad here. We won't even get our money back even though we added a lot to the property. We are going to go home with quite a loss and wouldn't you know it, Real Estate in Canada has gone through the roof! It looks as if we are going to have to rent (if that is even possible) Hubby will be leaving his job here, I work online which doesn't count and darling daughter won't have a job either. We are in quite a conundrum.

Not ever having to watch our pennies all that carefully, I decided that we were going to have to learn... and that became part of a daily diary.  It is amazing just how many ways that you can save money and if you don't have a job... it is even more important.

Our daily plan begins below...

However we are now in 2019 and  we are now living in Ontario, Canada... and we have learned a lot!!!
