I was just listening to a man talking about all the useless things that we buy and what we could cut that would make a huge difference in our lives. He could quite happily live without cable and while he was at it, he had no problems getting rid of his TV too. I don't think that would work for me. I guess the trick is to get rid of what is comfortable for you. For example, I have stopped buying movies... because I can watch TV. There is always something to watch. Now, I don't have to buy extra packages from the cable company. That I could live out. So, it seems that everyone simply has to look at their lives to see what they can give up that they are comfortable with.
