Random Money Stuff For Dec 10

UPDATED THROUGHOUT THE DAY

* We are at the stores often at this time of the year and we find that we have to force ourselves and I mean... force ourselves to stay away from the aisles containing junk food. We have one exception and that is popcorn.  That is one treat that everyone seems to like and it is easy on the budget! What is it about Christmas and goodies?

*What about one of those community boards at your supermarket. I could just stand and read those for hours. So much really neat stuff people want to get rid of. Be sure to check it out. This is a great time of the year!!

*I was just reading about a woman spends $9.00 a day on groceries. She does say that there are a lot of factors involved. One of them is where she lives. I'm not sure what we can spend a grand total of $280 a month on groceries, but I'm certainly going to give it a good try!!  Here's the video
At the end, you get to see what the mom actually buys. I agree with some of the items... not all. So, take a look and use what you like. I personally like all the milk she buys. She states in the video that she shops once a week. That is a lot of milk, but as we use only skim, we could easily freeze it.

*Weekends are for pancakes and they don't have to be those white flour versions that are  we are so used to and yes, I like those too, but darling daughter got us into the habit of switching up our recipes. We now use buckwheat flour and we throw in chopped walnuts along with the rest of the ingredients. And if you can eat more than two regular sized pancakes, you are a better person than me! I'm a one pancake eater at the best of times but that's all I can handle which also means, there are always some left in the freezer!! ;)

** *Do you make your own Lunchables?? The quality is so much better because you are buying quality items to put into it and the kids will love them just as much. And yes, your kids will like this part too. Here's one for the girls! Disney Princess Kids 2 Piece Reusable Lunch Container Kit - Sandwich Box and Divided Lunch Container

And here is one for the boys Cute Japanese-style 3 Layer Mini Fruit, Snack, Biscuit Boxes, Lunch Box for Kids Portable Microwave Bento Box Set (Banana Yellow)

* Today, I am going to have to buy a box of Dollar Store Christmas cards that can be cut up into gift cards to attach to each gift. And if you have a pair of pinking shears, even better. They are already fancy!!
